Why Isn’t Manual Lymph Drainage Helping My Symptoms From Lipedema?
One of the most popular recommendations for managing Lipedema is manual lymph drainage (MLD). MLD is a gentle massage of the lymphatic system that helps decrease swelling. Sounds perfect for someone who has Lipedema, right?
There is an important piece missing though!
For MLD to be effective for someone who has Lipedema, the tissue has to be softened first. Here is why…
The lymphatic fluid is very thick due to the large amount of protein in it.
Lipedema tissue is very thick, including fat nodules in it.
It is NOT effective to massage the lymphatic fluid through the thick tissue.
We MUST soften the tissue FIRST!
MLD and softening tissue is something almost everyone can do on our own at home. I teach my patients in the clinic and they are having great success with managing their symptoms and preventing the disease from progressing.
Want to learn how to do this at home? I have created a digital course that includes EVERYTHING I teach my patients in the clinic including how to do MLD, how to soften tissue, compression garment options and how to measure yourself, exercises, and more! I also created a mini-course on how to do cupping at home to help Lipedema.
